I was born and raised in Northern Nevada growing up in the town of Verdi. I attended the University of Nevada at Reno where I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Veterinary Medicine. While attending UNR I played football and was a Team Captain for the Big Sky Championship Team in 1983.

After graduating from UNR I attended Veterinary School at Colorado State University in Ft. Collins Colorado. Upon completion of veterinary school, I moved back to Reno and practiced in general small animal practice for a few years. In 1992 I starting working at the Animal Emergency Center in Reno and found that I truly enjoyed the challenge and excitement of Emergency Medicine.

I became interested in photography and birding in 2002. What started as a hobby, quickly grew into a passion for nature photography. I now enjoy photographing all types of nature. I have 3 children and am pictured below with my wife of 14 years.
